Eating out with kids can sometimes be something of a challenge (understatement of the year!) There are plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants in the our area which really do welcome children and families so I’ve compiled a list of them here.
These places are not all ‘exclusively’ for families or children but they have all shown thoughtful touches or great facilities (things like pushchair access, changing facilities, highchairs and so on)
At Ripon and Nidderdale Mumbler we are always looking to ‘spread the word’ if we find out about any little gems, so if you know of a pub, restaurant or café that should be included in this listing then please contact us here.
Olley’s is a great family-friendly Italian restaurant. I have eaten there with my family many times. The staff are friendly and always take time out to talk to the kids which of course they love. The restaurant opens at 5pm which works really well for us.
The food is delicious with a great regular menu and a specials board that often changes. Many restaurants offer separate kids menus which usually means a limited choice. At Olley’s kids choose from the regular pasta and pizza menus but there are kid-sized portions on offer for each.
The food is all freshly prepared. Pizzas are made with a nice traditional thin crust and a homemade tomato sauce and a wide variety of toppings ranging from the universal kid-favourite of Margarita to my favourite of Capricciosa (parma ham, artichokes, mushrooms, olives with a poached egg on top). The pasta dishes also offer a good range with my kids (and me!) loving the Salmon al Georgio and Bolognaise. For those who prefer something else there is a good selection of burgers and mains including chicken and steak on offer. The dessert menu offers a good choice for adults and kids. With favourites like chocolate brownie, sticky toffee pudding and chocolate orange moose to choose from.
The fires are lit in the winter giving a warm, cozy and welcoming feel. A favourite place of ours to eat with the kids. And if you come a little later in the evening, with their excellent wine and drinks menu it’s a great place for date night!Tel: 01423 712200 Click here to see the menu. Note: There are highchairs available if needed.
Things to do/see: Free outdoor play area, indoor play barn (£1 entry for those eating in the diner), ice cream, coffee, milkshakes plue whole dine-in menu available. Lots of fun on the whole family!
