Punishment Week at the Workhouse
Mon 23 October to Fri 27 October, 11am – 4pm daily
Discover more about Victorian Punishments in the Workhouse this half term with finger
stocks, back straighteners and punishment trails in store. These ‘fun’ family activities reveal the strict Yorkshire Workhouse regime that was in place for young and old in the past. There will also be seasonal baking and craft activities to enjoy during your visit: bake spiced apple biscuits and make Halloween dunces caps and scarey spiders!
Activities are free but museum entry applies.
Enjoy Halloween family fun at the Workhouse. Come along to our party evening and experience the corridor of fear, take part in Halloween themed party games and create seasonal crafts. Entry is £2.50 per person/ child. Tickets available from the Workhouse Museum and online.

Kick start the Autumn half term with a fabulous new event at the Great Yorkshire Showground, as TV favourites Julian Norton and Peter Wright take centre stage with “The Yorkshire Vet at Countryside Live”.
The TV favourites will be the star attractions of the two-day event in Harrogate which will be bigger and better than ever including an expanded children’s section.
Countryside Live, which has been running at the Great Yorkshire Showground for 14 years, will get a whole new look thanks to an exciting new partnership with The Yorkshire Vet and Channel 5. Read more here.

The Stockeld witches return with a spell binding riddle for 2017!
You will need to visit each witch to get a secret invisible letter stamp on your hand. Only upon meeting the final magical witch will the word be revealed and the spell broken. You can see the witches hiding inside of the Enchanted Forest.
